Wainwright Park
Our annual neighborhood picnic will be
on Tuesday, June 18 at 6:30pm at
Wainwright Park. There will be good food,
a raffle, cool police trucks to explore, a
casual softball game of Churchill Downs
residents vs. City of Lansing employees,
and lots of time to connect with your
neighbors. Some seating will be provided
but you are welcome to bring a blanket or
chairs to sit on. Come on out, bring a
dessert to pass if you’d like, and enjoy the
evening at the park.
We do still need some volunteers to help
set up this picnic. If you would like to
volunteer or participate in the softball
game, contact Claire at 517-898-5847
Councilmember Adam Hussain's constituent contact meetings happen on the 2nd Saturday of each month, resuming in January. Email Adam at hussai17@gmail.com to be added to his email list for more regular updates.

Crosswalk Painting at Jerree St and Stillwell Ave.
Saturday, Sept 2, 10am-2pm
The City of Lansing’s Neighborhoods, Art, and Citizen Engagement department awarded us a grant to paint the crosswalks at the intersection of Jerree St. and Stillwell Ave. this summer. If you have ideas for what kind of design you would like on these crosswalks, please submit ideas to Elizabeth at hossinke@gmail.com by Friday, June 16. The designs will have to be relatively simple, as we will only have 2-3 colors to work with and we want to use stencils to make the painting process simple. We will vote on the design at the neighborhood picnic on June 20, and paint the crosswalks on September 2. On the day of the painting, we will need volunteers for traffic control as well as the painting itself.
We have helped hundreds of our neighborhood kids repair their bicycles for safer use in our community.
This is a free event for the children in our neighborhood.
Sponsored by CDCA, residents will have a place to dispose of items from your yard, home and garage.
The dumpster was at the Wainwright elementary school parking lot. The dumpster was available for the residents of the
Churchill Downs Community Association.
The Churchill Downs Community Association has planted flowers in the planters located by the signs that stand at the entryways to our neighborhood. Volunteers worked together, in order to plant some lovely flowers at our Churchill Downs permanent entryway signs. Thank you ladies, for helping to make our neighborhood entry's look more inviting.
